Lesson 1- 8 steps

Thattadavu:
Thattu literally means to strike. So in this adavu we are just striking our feet on the floor in araimandalam. Hands can be either at the hips or in natyarambha position. There are eight variations in thattadavu.

Except 8th one all are set in Aadi taalam and the 8th one is set in Roopaka taalam. Let’s see one by one….

1. Theiya Thei – In araimandalam we strike our feet alternately right & left. Set in adi taalam in three speed.

In araimandalam we tap our feet four times each right & left.Set in adi taalam in three speed.

In araimandalam we tap our feet five times each right  & left with a karva (a pause) .Set in adi taalam in three speed.

7. Theithei Thatha thei thei Thaam – In araimandalam we tap our feet seven times starting with the right feet leaving the 4th one striking on the left. Set in Aadi taalam in three speed.
